Designers have impact and influence on all areas of our lives - from the moment we wake up design is all around us. A designer has thought about how far you have to walk to go to the bathroom, which tube of toothpaste you pick up and what clothes you decide to put on. Design is not just everyday things we interact with, it’s also the extraordinary things... look at the beautiful building you’ve always wanted to go into, the poster you’ve got on your wall, the logo on your sunglasses, the game you play for hours on your computer, and the music video that blows you away; all have been designed by someone.

You could be that someone, but only if you have the right tools, education is one of them, passion, commitment, imagination and hard work are some of the others. You would not think of going to a dentist (who had not studied) for a filling, but had bought himself a new drill. The same goes for design - the right information and skills are essential in order to do the job properly.
